In a recent interview, Bugatti’s president Stephan Winkelmann revealed plans of a new maximum-luxury car model. Apparently its innovative design is going to shift the old parading towards more sustainable luxury.
The automaker is working on a new electric vehicle that is intended for everyday use. The new vehicle won’t be a crossover and an SUV. It will be more of an electric limousine bearing more traditional body style. The priority won’t be on top speed, but function, performance and sustainability. This new model is speculated to be named “Royale”.
“In company’s future, maximum speed doesn’t the leading rode anymore”, Winkelmann said. “We are focusing on overall vehicle dynamics, lightweight and modern sustainable luxury.” He described the car as an electric sustainable limo that has a lengthened version of the Porsche J1 architecture, with a bigger Bugatti body style.
The limousine’s power will come from solid-state electrolyte batteries. Laboratory testing suggests that solid-state batteries have more energy density, less weight, speedy charging, and less degradation in comparison to current lithium batteries. Unfortunately, major battery suppliers are skeptical as to how quickly the technology can be commercialized.
Winkelmann has to overcome a few obstacles before he can roll the “Royale” into manufacturing. The new model has to be approved by the overseer board, the Volkswagen Auto Group. If approved, it will take another four years until it will hit the market.
If anyone has a $875,000 to spare, we highly recommend getting one for your prom ride. All jokes aside, the new Bugatti will probably be an eye candy and an overall great limo to have. And for now, use Elite Chicago Limo for your proms.
